Just Passing Through

Many unforeseen things have happened in the last few weeks. Glad that there was a wedding to go to in between the funerals. Just tell the people that you love, how much you love them. Now.

Urbania

Woke up with a start last night. I knew something big had fallen but was too tired to get up to see. This morning when I walked outside I saw a big limb from one of our Silver Maples was down. It had been hit by a truck in the night. There are scars on the branches hanging over the street where the truck had hit it. This is the second time this has happened in the night. The big old Dogwood took a hit a few years back. When it was hit it sounded like a bomb going off. I chased the truckdriver down the street at one in the morning. The old trees in our neighborhood are threatened on so many levels. They are here so long and live through so much. Pictures of trees on the California coast and of the trees in Pensacola after Ivan.

Laboring days

What a beautiful day today. Worked in my studio all day then took a walk in Grant Park at evenfall. The trees there are so amazing. Big leaf magnolia, magnolia macrophilla. Oaks, tulip poplars, big trees.
I am preparing for an upcoming one person show in New Orleans. Opens at Uptown gallery on October 20. Go to uptowngallerynola.com

Another Summer Day

A rose from my birthday with another one, birthday that is, sneaking up.
Peacock that danced for me.
A still life from The Swan Coach House show this past winter.
I am in my studio painting every day for an upcoming show in New Orleans at the Uptown Gallery. The show opens on October 20. If you are so inclined come to the opening. The work is progressing, building changing. Abstract work on wood panels. Mixed media. Today my friend Deedra Ludwig came to town on her way cross country back to Seattle for her show at Fetherston Gallery.
To see some of my work if you are in Atlanta go to the Sunrise Bank on the corner of North Ave. and West Peachtree St. It is a beautiful show in the office spaces that really works. Karen Comer Lowe curated the show. Hanging till October 7th.
